Why We Chose Thailand as PalaVidas' First Group Trip Destination

When people ask us why we chose Thailand for our first PalaVidas group trip, we always smile, because the honest answer is that Thailand chose us first.
Long before PalaVidas existed, we were both independently drawn to Southeast Asia. There's something about the region that gets under your skin: the food markets that open before sunrise, the temples that feel genuinely alive with meaning, the way locals seem to carry warmth as a default setting. Thailand, in particular, has a way of making you feel like you're experiencing the world at its most vivid.

We wanted a destination that could carry the full PalaVidas experience
When we started building PalaVidas, we knew we didn't want our first trip to be a safe, predictable choice. We wanted a place that could deliver on every dimension of what we believe travel should be: cultural depth, incredible food, genuine human connection, moments of beauty that stop you in your tracks, and just enough logistical adventure to make it feel real.
Thailand checks every single one of those boxes, and then some. In one trip, you can explore a 700-year-old kingdom in Chiang Mai, kayak through limestone karsts in Krabi, and eat the best noodle soup of your life from a cart on a Bangkok side street. That range is rare.
The group size matters as much as the destination
We capped our Thailand trip at 12 travelers, not because of venue limitations, but because we believe that's the sweet spot for group travel. Large enough that you always have someone to share a moment with; small enough that you never feel like you're part of a herd. In a country like Thailand, where the best experiences happen off the main path, that intimacy makes all the difference.
Large tour groups are challenging. You spend half your energy coordinating logistics and half your experience watching things through a crowd. That's not what we're building with PalaVidas.
And honestly — we just really love Thailand
We believe the best travel guides are people who are genuinely excited about where they're taking you. We've both spent time in Thailand separately over the years, and when we started comparing notes, the stories poured out: the night market in Chiang Mai's old city, the silence of a cave temple outside Pai, the moment a long-tail boat clears the mangroves and opens into open blue water.
We chose Thailand because we couldn't imagine starting PalaVidas anywhere else. And we can't wait to share it with you. Don't forget, our early bird offer ends June 30th!
